The 3,152 Catalan multinational companies, above all, look to the European Union and America. Of the 15 countries that host the most subsidiaries of Catalan companies, eight are in Europe and six in the American continent. In all, five countries make up 38.2% of Catalan branches abroad.

Portugal tops the standings with 878 subsidiaries. It makes up 10.52% of the 8,346 branches that Catalan companies have abroad. Next is another neighbouring country in the European Union, France, with 688 subsidiaries (8% of the total). Mexico is the third placed country in terms of subsidiaries and first on the American continent, with 587 (7.03%). The United States, meanwhile, has 576 commercial or industrial Catalan branches (6.9%) and Brazil 480 (5.75%).

Even though Catalan companies are also present in Africa and Oceania, they are not so significant as those in Europe and America. None of the countries in these continents make the standings of countries with the most Catalan subsidiaries. In Asia, only China, with 201 subsidiaries, sticks out for its attractiveness to Catalan capital. In total, Catalan companies have subsidiaries in 131 countries around the world.
