There are increasingly more female entrepreneurs here at home. Names such as Gemma Cernuda, Joana Sánchez, Glòria Molins or Karen Prats are just some of the few examples that show that women also have a lot to offer in terms of setting up and running companies. Nevertheless, neither Barcelona, nor any Spanish city, is to be yet found among the cities in the world with the most female entrepreneurs. In a ranking put together by the World Economic Forum, Chicago is top followed by Boston and Silicon Valley.
In these US cities, almost a third of new start-ups are run by women. You have to go down to sixth place in the ranking to find the first European city, Paris, and down to ninth place to find an Asian city, in the form of Singapore.
